Overview

The F55 is exceptionally small, light and modular, letting you build up the right configuration for each job – or each shot. As well as the choice of formats and internal and external recording options, you can attach a variety of viewfinders, including the revolutionary optional DVF-EL100 OLED viewfinder, PL-mount, FZ-mount and still lenses, including second-generation Sony PL-mount lenses, and extra long-life Olivine – Lithium Iron Phosphate – batteries. The chassis is only slightly wider than a typical PL-mount prime lens, perfect for 3D rigs. An optional shoulder rig provides for hand-held and shoulder-mounted shooting.

Thanks to the full-size Super 35mm CMOS sensor that renders every scene with extraordinary colour, contrast and ultra-low noise – even in the most challenging low-light conditions. And now you can get stunning results at up to 120fps in 4K.

Great for HDR with support for X-OCN

With 16-bit recording and a generous 14 stops of latitude, the PMW-F55 is a perfect tool for acquiring High Dynamic Range (HDR) material.

Light and versatile

Very light just – 2.2kg (without lens and accessories). The camera is compact and easy to handle body of the PMW-F55 belies its immense versatility. Built up with a generous range of lenses, adaptors and other add-ons it’s ideal as a shoulder-mounted camera.

Colour outside the lines

Don’t settle for ordinary! S-Gamut reproduces reds and greens that are literally beyond the reach of less capable cameras. Every last nuance of colour is preserved with phenomenal 16-bit linear RAW recording. This encodes over 65,000 discrete shades of red. Plus 65,000 blues. Plus 65,000 greens. It all adds up to more than 275,000,000,000,000 possible colours. How good is that?

The speed you need at 240 frames per second

High speed shooting with the F55 is your passport to exquisite slow motion. Capture 2K RAW at 240 fps for playback at 24p. You’ll get 10x super slow motion playback – perfect for catching fine detail of sports, stunts and explosions, as well as the exquisite beauty of our natural world. Turbo-charge your workflow with full 4096 x 2160 resolution, captured on board with the all-I-frame quality of Sony XAVC I recording at a highly practical 240 Mbps (24p).
